The great computer race

UTSC knows how to put the “fun” into fundraising. This image from the early 1980s depicts three faculty members participating in The Great Computer Race, in which contestants had to use a variety of unorthodox modes of transport (such as tricycles, tandem bicycles and hospital beds) to visit all three U of T campuses. In the wheelbarrow is management economics professor Mike Krashinsky. Pushing him is the late professor of life sciences C.K. Govind, and cheering them on is chemistry lecturer Karen Henderson (now retired). Senior lecturer emeritus Cathy Pickett was apparently also on the team. The race was surely for a good cause. Unfortunately, we don’t remember what it was. Do you? If so, please email the editor at utsccommons@utsc.utoronto.ca.
